Lisa Payne is a well-established, outgoing fitness and wellness expert in Chicago. She has a Bachelor’s degree in both Broadcast Journalism and TV/Film Production from the University of Iowa. Lisa’s first job after college was as a TV Writer/Producer for KCRG TV 9, an ABC affiliate in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The opportunities she received from working in TV helped her to build tenacity and drive in her future fitness career.
After being accepted into the Post-Baccalaureate Writing Program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Lisa left her job in TV and moved back to Illinois. She continued on to receive her MFA in Writing from SAIC. As if that weren’t enough schooling, Lisa also completed The Second City writing and improv programs.
A self-proclaimed multi-tasker, Lisa began teaching fitness classes and personal training as a way to both pay the bills and to get to play with friends at the gym. But out of this seemingly serendipitous collaboration came a career in fitness writing and teaching Exercise Physiology as an Adjunct Professor at The Adler School of Psychology.
Lisa is a Contributing Writer for Livestrong.com, Today’s Chicago Woman magazine, CheekyChicago.com and here on her own blog at PaynefullyFit.com. She is a representative of Kate Hudson’s athletic line Fabletics as a Fabletics Master and works with LARABAR as an Ambassador. Her company Lisa Payne Fitness is thriving and growing every day!
